Spike TV's Video Game Awards

On Friday, December 8, 2006, Josh and I went to the Spike TV's VGA show at the USC Galen Center. It was pretty fun. Samuel L. Jackson hosted the show. I think he did a decent job.

There were musical performances by Tenacious D and AFI. It was pretty loud for my old ears. There were some pretty cool pyrotechnics too.

I wanted to take some pictures, but they didn't allow any cameras into the show. I had to run back to the car and get back in line. That sucked big time. Sorry I don't have any pictures to show you.

Sarah Silverman also showed up. First, she bagged on all the videogamers at the show saying that they're all losers for playing games. Then, she thanked them for being major contributors to the decrease in AIDS, since they just stay home and play games all the time. She kept going on and on, and later, she was booed off the stage.

Samuel L. Jackson said that he found a great solution to the typical nagging anti-videogame girlfriend/wife. He says that he married a woman that loves games. Jackson also stated that if he had to choose between his Xbox 360 and his children, he would choose the XBox 360, because he could easily get new children by going to the mall.

Jackson's online lover turned out to be some fat hairy guy. After the guy went back to his seat, Jackson demanded that the scene be deleted from the show, but the producer said, "Sorry, it's already up on Youtube." That's so true. They showed a screen of Jackson and his online lover on Youtube.com.

Tila Tequila showed up and some guy in the audience loudly yelled, "Myspace!" and everyone cracked up. I'm sure everyone there was her Myspace friend.

I thought it was pretty exciting to be there. There were a lot of celebrities there, but I didn't have a good look since we had lousy seats.
